What is Young Designers?

UWS YOUNG DESIGNERS is a youth-based, fashion design and entrepreneur program that offers students with fashion and business ambitions an opportunity to create designs for potential apparel to be  carried in the UWS TIME COLLECTION STORE online mall.  The entrepreneurship component of the program is the understanding of how their creativity has value, and can be monetized for their financial gain and freedom.  The goal of that monetization is to develop College Fund/Financial Portfolios for their futures, funded by a percentage of sales profits from their product(s). 

General 8-WEEK PROGRAM OUTLINE:

Week 1: UNDERSTANDING WHAT FASHION & OWNERSHIP IS.

What is a Fashion Line?  What is a Fashion Designer?  What is Financial Literacy? What are the THREE types of income? What is OWNERSHIP?  How important or powerful is OWNERSHIP?  Do you think OWNING a Fashion Line could be empowering for YOU? Establish Fashion House Name?

 Week 2 - 5: Students engage in the drafting and designing of slogans/artwork that will be placed on a product. Additionally, they will have to develop catchy ad lines, tag lines to accompany their product campaigns. During this period, students will learn the fundamentals of marketing, advertising, and the impact of using their social media bases, as MANY students have THOUSANDS of followers. The top 3 designs will  create a 60 second green screen promo video for their design which will become a product in the UWS YOUNG DESIGNERS online store.

 Week 6: All artwork must be completed and submitted.

 Week 7: Drafts of digitized student designs are presented. Top 3 designs selected. (Opportunity for several products with designs)

 Week 8: Unveiling of new collections/products.
