The mission of the UWS HBCU ROAD TRIP BOOK TOUR is to venerate and show, not just tell, via the book series and documentaries, the excellence being executed and manifested at HBCUs, and their impact on Black evolution, bringing a greater awareness, appreciation, and aspiration for the HBCU experience to those who may have never thought it possible.
Each year THOUSANDS of students have aspirations of attending HBCUs, in hopes of following in the footsteps of their parents, as well as, some of most notable and influential alumni in every industry from entertainment, law, business, politics, and countless other professions.
HBCU ROAD TRIP: NYC TO VIRGINIA explores not only the physical journey, but also the emotional and cultural awakening these students New York City high school students experience as they connect with their roots, history, and future possibilities.
A powerful and inspiring story-HBCU ROAD TRIP: NYC TO VIRGINIA is a literary and cultural coming-of-age journey. Imagine a diverse group of students traveling down the East Coast, visiting 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), learning about history, legacy, and their own potential along the way. Each stop is more than just a campus tour…it's a window into Black excellence, cultural history, and self-discovery, and futures imagined.
This inspiring story takes readers on an unforgettable journey, highlighting the excitement, culture, and traditions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Whether you are an HBCU alum, future student, or just love a great story, this book celebrates the pride and legacy of these remarkable institutions.
As the students visit iconic HBCUs, they explore historical landmarks, experience inspiring performances, and engage in meaningful conversations about leadership, self-discovery, and community. Each stop on their journey offers valuable lessons, unforgettable connections, and a glimpse into the limitless possibilities that lie ahead

HOWARD UNIVERSITY, my Alma mater, chapter 10 in the book, is one of the oldest HBCUs, and widely considered The Mecca and "Capstone of Higher Learning" for African Americans for over 150 years. Its legacies and their contributions to the world in various industries and business is unparalleled.
TARGET AUDIENCE: MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS (ages 9-14) TARGET CITIES (but not limited to): NYC, NJ, Philly, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, LA, Houston, Atlanta, New Orleans, Charlotte, NC, and Baltimore bringing a greater awareness of HBCUs, encouraging and inspiring as many young students to attend one.
Ideal “UWS HBCU DAY” Event:
🔸10 minute Introduction with Author/Filmaker Earl Christian III
🔸 Screening of 20 minute version of HHTE Documentary.
🔸15 minute Q&A on the film and the impact of attending an HBCU, and college in general.
🔶15 minute Book Signing w/photo & video ops.
The “UWS “HBCU ROAD TRIP” Book Tour & HHTE Screening” will also be a documentary showing the energy and excitement from each school visited.
